Jazz Sunday as been part of the Chapel Allerton Arts Festival from the start and always attracts the crowds. This year the festival will feature three bands from the booming Leeds young jazz scene that are making big names for themselves nationally – Olivia Cuttill’s Quintet, “Songs to be Swingin” (Seven Arts Thus 28 August 7.30pm), Ozzy Moysey’s Ancient Infinity Orchestra (Seven Arts Sat 30 August 7.30pm) and Ferg’s Imaginary Big Band (led by bassist Fergus Quill headlining the Jazz Sunday in Regent Street Sun 31 August 5pm).
The Jazz Sunday in Regent Street also features some blues from John Taylor’s Blues Spectrum, street music from “Homecoming Brass”, schools big band Leeds Youth Jazz Rock Orchestra and the calypso jazz of Dudley Nesbitt and Pan Jumby. This year too there will be jazz at the Willow Tree Stage in Chapel Allerton centre on Sunday afternoon 31 August, including Cathy Ibberson and Topaz.

Presented by Jazzleeds. JazzLeeds are a major UK jazz promoter based at Seven Arts, Chapel Allerton Leeds. We are an arts music charity with a year round programme of over 140 gigs, jazz festivals, jam sessions and workshops. We were UK Parliamentary Jazz Award winners in 2016. We promote a mixture of international, national and local musicians and a wide range of music from contemporary through to traditional jazz with some blues, latin and big bands as well.
