Folk Roots Fringe presents CAFÉ RUN 2024


The Café Run takes place on the Saturday 31st August afternoon from 1.30pm where a number of artists will move around performing 30 – 45 minutes at various cafes and bars in Chapel Allerton to help provide a festival community atmosphere in the village.

Come on down, buy a drink, relax and listen to some great music hopefully in the sun! And bring a friend or two with you!

Ramona Ellis

Ramona Ellis has gained local popularity performing live gigs at numerous iconic Leeds venues with airplays on BBC Music Introducing and on the FAB Folk and Blues Radio Show. “An incredible young talent” Mike Jolly

PKYB

London-born and Leeds based music producer/singer/songwriter PKYB released his debut EP ‘Wrestling Self, Losing Graciously’ last year. The acoustic version of PKYB is something to look forward to on the Cafe Run.

Stiofan O’Treabhair

Fusion guitarist, bouzoukist and vocalist Stiofan O’Treabhair’s music is rooted in Irish and Scottish folk traditions. “Beautiful sounds” BChannel

Sueli Gil

Combining the folkloric rhythms of Semba and the Bahia Afro sounds or “Tropicália” movement, Suéli Gil tells wholesome stories relating to her life. The Cafe Run will be a special opportunity to hear the acoustic interpretation of Suéli’s songs.

As a bonus the Cafe Run will also featuring two special extras that will appear ad hoc at the various venues in the afternoon:

Gibbons Academy of Irish Dance

The Gibbons Academy of Irish Dance is a local dance school based in Chapel Allerton. Principle teacher Katie Gibbons has a wealth of experience teaching children of all ages and abilities, from beginner right through to World Championship level. The academy look forward to passing on the passion for Irish Dance to the next generation. You can be entertained by dancers from the Gibbons Academy at their Cafe Run performances.

Ben Magic

Inspired by watching card tricks, 16 year old Ben decided to learn the tricks of the trade. He has been practising for a decade and his flair for close-up and stage magic brings him to the streets of Chapel Allerton as part of the Cafe Run. Don’t miss Ben Magic do a trick on you!
