JazzLeeds are back promoting the popular Sunday afternoon and Thursday evening weekly concerts @ Seven Arts and running jazz instrumental and vocal workshops and jazz sessions @ The Barn. They are planning more great music at the Chapel Allerton Arts Festival -both at the Sunday afternoon Jazz Sunday in Regent Street and with a number of fringe concerts at Seven Arts, the Willow Tree in Chapel Allerton and in the open air at Gledhow Valley Woods.
At Seven Arts they will be putting on a special silent movie with piano accompaniment, featuring Adam Fairhall on piano accompanying a Buster Keaton movie on Friday 2nd September at Seven Arts, and will be bringing another top artist to the Seven Arts headline concert on Saturday 3rd Sept at Seven Arts – Malawian-born British artist and vocalist Marco Woolf with his Sextet. The music has been described as: “Atop the progressive jazz instrumentals, Marco Woolf’s strikingly thoughtful, restrained delivery creates the sense that each word is occurring to him for the first time as he sings it – the few, simple lines revealing a tentative resolve to enter into the fullness of family life, whatever it entails.
