Chapel Allerton has always been the centre for Jazz in Leeds with UK 2016 Parliamentary award winning Jazz Club Seven Jazz being based at Inkwell and Seven Arts. So this year we are spreading our wings and holding a village jazz festival at the same time as the Chapel Allerton Festival weekend 2- 4 September. The festival offers an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, Asian heritage and Cuban sounds. It starts on the Friday evening at Seven Arts with an evening of Jazz and Poetry featuring Leeds own poetry superstar Rommi Smith and also features British-Asian clarinettist and composer Arun Ghosh, Leeds Youth Jazz Rock Orchestra,Enrico Marchesi’s Bourbon y Tequila, Chapel Allerton Festival Community Choir, Lauren Kinsella Quintet and topping the Sunday afternoon bill Leeds blues legends Brendan Croker and Steve Phillips .
